Utica, NY (WIBX) - A vote in the Assembly Education Committee has left supporters of the American Heart Association bitterly disappointed.

Even though 26 of the committee's 31 members are sponsors of the CPR In Schools bill, the legislation was tabled.

Dr. Frank Dubeck, President of the American Heart Association advisory board in Utica, says it's unfortunate that lawmakers did not recognize the life-saving benefit of the easily taught technique.

Dubeck says he hopeful they'll revisit it again in the future.

The legislation had passed the Senate.
