23-year old Delvin Moody has announced his candidacy for the Utica Common Council's 5th Ward seat.

Moody is a lifelong resident of Utica and Cornhill and recently graduated from the University of Rochester.

He's also a former Utica All Star, Young Scholar and member of the Junior Frontiers.

Moody says he sees Utica and Cornhill as a place full of potential and opportunities.  He believes with progressive leadership, we can begin to turn around the inner-city and address issues of poverty.

Moody will hold a campaign kick-off event on February 23rd during the Youth Teen Summit at the Parkway Rec Center.

The 5th Ward Council seat is currently held by Bill Phillips.
