Utica, NY (WIBX) - The State University of New York Research Foundation has been selected to undergo an independent audit. State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli says his office plans to examine the institutions hiring practices, compensation, potential conflicts of interest, and a host of other issues.

DiNapoli said, "The Research Foundation can use a little sunlight." In a released statement the state comptroller goes on to say, "We have to ensure that there's a culture of ethics, integrity and accountability. We're sending in a team of auditors, including staff from our fraud unit."

He says the audit will focus on issues raised in prior Comptroller audits. Officials say notification--an audit engagement letter-- was sent to SUNY Chancellor, Dr. Nancy Zimpher today.
