Former New York Senate Majority leader Joe Bruno has been acquitted of federal corruption charges.

The 85 year old was accused of accepting $20,000 a month from an Albany businessman for consulting on horse racing.

The U.S. Supreme Court overturned the original ruling that convicted him on theft of honest services.

Bruno retired from the Senate in 2008 after serving for more than a decade as Majority Leader.
