ELMA, N.Y. (AP) — Former senior White House adviser Steve Bannon is scheduled to headline a rally for Republican candidates in western New York.

The former strategist for President Donald Trump is set to appear Wednesday at an event billed as the "Red Tide Rising Rally" in the Buffalo suburb of Elma.

The town is in the 27th Congressional District, where Republican Chris Collins is seeking re-election despite facing federal charges of insider trading and lying to the FBI. He's being challenged by Democrat Nate McMurray, the town supervisor of Grand Island.

It's unknown whether Collins, who has pleaded not guilty, will be at the rally.

Bannon has been campaigning around the country ahead of the midterm elections.
