Marshal, NY (WIBX) - The Oneida County Sheriff's Office says weather conditions were the primary factor in a four-car crash on Route 12 in the Town of Marshal.

Deputies say the accident happened just before 1:30 Wednesday afternoon during whiteout conditions.

The chain reaction accident began when a driver slowed his vehicle.

47-year old Darlene Tehan of Sangerfield and 41-year old Creighton Newsome of Waterville were taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The drivers of the two other vehicles were not injured.

Route 12 was closed for about two hours while the accident was cleaned up.
