Governor Andrew Cuomo Signs Toughest Gun Control Law In Nation

Albany, NY (WIBX) - New York officially has the strictest gun laws in the nation.

Governor Andrew Cuomo signed off on the legislation this afternoon, after the state Assembly passed it, 104 to 43.

The Assembly's vote follows the Senate's passage of the laws last night.

Cuomo calls the new safeguards, which expand the state's ban on assault weapons and make it more difficult for the mentally ill to own guns, "common sense."
