Dozens of students lined the walkways outside of Herkimer County Community College's Williams library today to watch the college's annual 9/11 observance ceremony. Assemblyman Marc Butler, Senator James Seward, and Police Chief Joseph Malone were in attendance to pay tribute to the thousands who lost their lives twelve years ago.

Speakers at the ceremony included HCCC President Anne Marie Murray, English instructor Matthew Powers, Mohawk and Herkimer Police Chief Joseph Malone, Assemblyman Marc Butler, Senator James Seward and HCCC sophomore Adam Lisser, an Iraq War veteran and member of the National Guard.

The ceremony was followed by a version of "Amazing Grace" played on the bagpipes and a moment of silence followed by "Taps."

The City of Rome will hold it's annual ceremony at 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Police and Fire Memorial Park on Black River Blvd.
