Oriskany, NY (WIBX) -An inmate at the Oneida County jail has been charged with attempted escape and promoting prison contraband.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, 28-year old Stephen Dineen of Utica was being held on robbery charges.

Investigators say a scheduled "shakedown" of Dineen's housing area led to the discovery of pseudo mortar joints in the cement block wall under his bunk, which is an exterior wall.

After closer examination of the imitation mortar joints, corrections officers found a metalic mop head holder in a hole in the mortar.
