TROY, N.Y. (AP) — A state Supreme Court Justice has denied a motion to vacate the double-murder conviction of a man found guilty of bludgeoning an upstate New York couple in 2014.

Justice Andrew Ceresia on Wednesday rejected arguments from Jacob Heimroth to overturn his conviction in the August 2014 beating deaths of Allen and Maria Lockrow at their mobile home in the Lansingburgh section of Troy.

Heimroth was convicted of second-degree murder and burglary after a co-conspirator testified against him at trial.

Defense attorneys unsuccessfully argued that the conviction should be tossed because prosecutors failed to let them know they were also prosecuting the son of a key witness.

Ceresia sentenced Heimroth to serve a prison term of 50 years to life after Allen Lockrow's siblings pleaded for the maximum sentence.

Heimroth plans to appeal the decision.
