Oneida County, NY (WIBX) - The Oneida County Sheriff's Office is reporting that the death of a logger in Madison County last week was accidental. Officials say 36-year-old Brett Armstrong was killed while logging on private property in the Town of Nelson when he was struck by a 15-inch thick tree branch. The Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office ruled that Armstrong died as a result of multiple traumatic injuries due to the falling tree limb.

According to the report, Armstrong, a professional logger,  was logging on private property behind 3926 Old State Road on June 15 when the accident occurred. In a released statement by Madison County Undersheriff, John Ball, said, "Armstrong was downing a tree that struck another tree as the tree he was cutting came down. An approximately 15-inch limb from that second tree broke off and fell on Armstrong."
