Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente was joined by officials from the Village of Whitesboro and the Sauquoit Creek Basin Inter-municipal Commission to announce the completion of a major flood mitigation project.

The project included the realignment and replacement of a metal storm water sewer pipe just north of the Main Street bridge in Whitesboro over the Sauquoit Creek.

Picente says the project will help prevent flood damage in the area.  Homes and business in that area was hit hard by flooding in the summer of 2013.

Another flood mitigation project is underway along the Sauquoit Creek in the Town of Paris.

Both projects cost $215,000.  Since the summer floods of 2013, the County has spent $715,000 on flood mitigation infrastructure improvements.
