Man Arrested For Gun Possession

Boonville, NY (WIBX) - State Police have arrested a Boonville man for gun possession.

Police say the arrest follows a verbal altercation between 26-year old Matthew Dias and three other men at Erwin Park in Boonville.

Dias fled the scene on a bicycle and was pursued by a trooper, who allegedly witnessed Dias thrown an object from his waistband

A 22-caliber pistol was recovered by police.

Dias was charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

He was arraigned and sent to the Oneida County jail on $25,000 bail.
