APALACHIN, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a man was fatally shot after two intruders entered a home in upstate New York.

The Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin reports that an uninjured woman dialed 911 after the intruders fled the Apalachin home early Thursday morning.

New York State Police say they are questioning two people, but no criminal charges have been filed.

Police say the shooting near the Pennsylvania border did not appear to be a random act of violence and that there is no threat to the public.

No motive has been disclosed and police would not comment on whether anything was taken from the home.

Police have not released the names of anyone in custody or the name of the man who was killed.
