Mayor Palmieri along with his department heads and the city's finance committee held a meeting at the North Utica Community Center to hear input from citizens about the proposed 8% tax increase in the City's latest budget.

Palmieri began the meeting by saying the City of Utica is at a point where any more budget cuts will begin to affect services like police and the fire department.

The handful of residents that spoke at the meeting made it clear they were unhappy with the increase and would like to see the city do more to try to reduce that number.

The Common Council has until March to approve the budget or make what they call severe cuts to bring the 8% down to a lower level.
