State legislators met in a special session in Albany on Monday, but failed to come to an agreement to close the state's $315 million budget gap.Senate Democrats blamed the lack of action on Governor Paterson submitting budget reduction bills too late for lesders to have time to study them.

But a spokeswoman for the Governor says Paterson spent the last few weeksspekaing with legislative leaders and proved them with copies of the bills last week.

Some legislators said important budget cuts shou;dn't be rushed.
