Little Falls, NY (WIBX) -A morning fire destroyed a two family home in the city of Little Falls. Fire crews responded to the blaze at 11 and 13 Loomis Street just after 9:00 a.m.

First responders saw flames shooting from the second story, twenty feet high, prompting Little falls to call in extra manpower.

Herkimer, East Herkimer and Ilion firefighters all assisted in bringing the blaze under control.

Little Falls Fire Chief Robert Parese says the blaze was a challenge to fight because of the close proximity of other homes on either side of the burning building.

"If we can't get in and knock down the fire without it getting out of that structure then we have to protect the exposures [neighboring homes], we had two exposures on each side, we protected them, then just went ahead and tackled the fire", Parese said.

The Red Cross is expected to help those displaced. It's believed that no one was home at the time of the blaze.
