Mother And Baby Assaulted During Domestic Dispute

Utica, NY (WIBX) - Back-to-back domestic dispute incidents, landed a Utica man in jail twice this week for allegedly assaulting his wife and one-year-old son. According to officials, 40-year-old Sheiknoor Hassan Barake slapped the child in the eye, during an argument with his wife. The child suffered swelling and black and blue discoloration to his eye and was taken to St. Luke's Memorial Hospital for treatment. The mother told police, Barake was angry after the child spilled his juice.

Two days earlier, Barake was arrested for allegedly punching his wife in the face with a closed fist. Police charged him with Second Degree Assault in that incident. Barake is now charged with Third Degree Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
