The downtown Utica hospital project is taking another step forward with approval from a State Health Department committee.

The Establishment and Project Review Committee of the Public Health and Planning Council has approved Mohawk Valley Health System's Certificate of Need Application for the new healthcare campus.

President and CEO Scott Perra says the approval keeps MVHS within its original timeline to break ground in 2019.

The Certificate of Need will go before the full Planning Council at its April 12th meeting.
