Mohawk Valley Health System has selected an architectural firm and construction manager for its proposed Downtown Utica hospital project.

The architectural firm is NBBJ and the construction manager is Turner Construction Company.

Hospital officials say the two firms will take part in the planning, design and construction of the new hospital.

The cost of the project is estimated at $480 million for the 750,000 square foot facility.

“We are excited to be able to begin this next phase as it means that we are getting that much closer to this project becoming a reality,” said Scott H. Perra, president/CEO of MVHS. “Both companies have extensive local and international experience, with projects in New York and around the United States as well as in many cities abroad. The companies are committed to working with our local businesses whenever possible to complete the project.”

NBBJ and Turner have extensive experience working together and have completed more than $2.6 billion in projects, many which have focused on healthcare.

NBBJ and Turner will work closely with the outreach team to consider community input during the design and construction phases of the project.
