New York Gives Grants For Preservation Of Historical Records

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Several New York state universities are being given grants to preserve historical records and make them more accessible to students, teachers and others.

The New York State Archives on Wednesday announced grants totaling $92,000 to eight universities and not for profits.

The University at Buffalo is getting the largest grant, $25,000, for a history project focused on Buffalo's East Side. According to the project website, plans include digitizing and annotating historical documents, reports, plans, photos and news clippings.

Also receiving grants: the Adirondack Historical Association, Brooklyn Historical Society, the Center for Puerto Rican Studies at Hunter College, Rochester General Hospital, Rochester Public Library, the State University of New York at Albany and SUNY Maritime.
