No Downtown Hospital Group Becoming Political Party
The group No Hospital Downtown is becoming a political party.
Party founders have submitted initial documents with the Oneida County Board of Elections and party members are now obtaining signatures from city and county voters.
Wednesday's announcement was made outside of the business Citation Services at 418 Lafayette Street.
No Hospital Downtown co-founder Jim Brock says he's been asked over and over again by residents, why don't we have a voice? He says today they do.
Candidates under the new party line will sign a pledge, stating they will work and vote to put a new hospital on the St. Luke's Hospital Campus, not in Downtown Utica.
Candidates who have signed the pledge so far include Utica Common Council candidates Jim Zecca, Alan Thayer and Lou Poccia and Oneida County Legislative candidate Frank Gentile.
