ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Members of a New York Army National Guard aviation unit are heading to Pennsylvania to participate in a Iarge-scale battle simulation exercise.

National Guard officials say 200 soldiers in the 42nd Combat Aviation Brigade are departing Wednesday morning for the training exercise at Fort Indiantown Gap in Lebanon County in southeastern Pennsylvania.

They'll be taking part in an exercise known to the troops as Warfighter, two weeks of training that involves using computer simulations to test command staff in how to fight a modern battle.

The aviation unit, a component of the Troy-based 42nd Infantry Division, has elements spread across the state from Long Island to Dunkirk in western New York. The aviation brigade is based in the Albany suburb of Latham.
