The New York Air National Guard is announcing that one of its unmanned aerial drones was lost over Lake Ontario today. According to a news release from the National Guard, at approximately 1 p.m. today an MQ-9 reaper drone crashed into eastern Lake Ontario during a routine training mission being conducted by the 174th attack wing.

The Air National Guard says nobody was injured and the aircraft had no weapons on board. Air Force officials will investigate the crash.

The MQ-9 Reaper is a remotely piloted intelligence, reconnaissance and surveillance aircraft.
