The Oneida County 911 Call Center is getting a major nod from the New York State Sheriff's Association.

The call center is only one of 12 in the state to meet the 70 required standards to receive accreditation.

County Executive Anthony Picente says the "center has risen to the challenge of protecting the people of Oneida County, and that the investments we have made in technology and equipment are being recognized."

Last year, the call center received more than 354,000 calls between the 911 and seven digit phone number combined. Of them, 128,314 of them were received through the 911 emergency number.
