Police agencies in Oneida County will be taking part in a special enforcement effort to crack down on drunk drivers throughout the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

The crackdown period will begin on Friday and end on Tuesday.

Oneida County STOP DWI will be partnering with the Kirkland, New York Mills, Rome, Utica, Vernon, Whitesboro, Whitestown, and the Yorkville Police Departments, as well as the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and State Police.

“As Memorial Day approaches, so does our anxiousness for the beginning of summer. With that comes an increase in alcohol consumption. We want you to enjoy the Memorial Day holiday and your summer, however, please drink responsibly.  Oneida County remains dedicated in its mission to rid Oneida County roadways of the intoxicated driver”, said Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente. “I urge you to please drink responsible and help keep Oneida County roadways safe, so be sure to have a plan to get home safely”.
