Syracuse, NY (WIBX) - This Wednesday, August 31st, is Oneida Day at the Iroquois Indian Village at the New York State Fair. Keeping with tradition, the Oneida Day ceremony will take place at 2:00 p.m. at the village, located off Tram Stop 9 or 10. The festivities will start with a thanksgiving message followed by a thanksgiving song. There will also be Oneida dancers performing a variety of traditional dances such as a Welcome Dance and a Smoke Dance.

Organizers say there will also be American Indian crafts, food, and many other items from the Oneidas throughout the village. For more information on the 2011 NYS Fair visit, http://nysfair.org/home. To learn more about the history of the Oneida Nation visit, www.oneidaindiannation.com.
