Utica, NY (WIBX) - Robert Palmieri believes he was fired for stricly political reasons.

The former Utica Codes Commissioner spoke to WIBX Friday and discussed how he was notified that his "services were no longer needed."

He referenced a conversation he says he had with Mayor David Roefaro on December 1st. "He said a little birdie told him that I was gonna give him a primary for mayor. I told him I never said that and I can't stop people from talking. And, if I was ever going to run, that he would be the first person I would inform."

When asked if he planned on running for mayor, Palmieri would not commit to a 'yes' or 'no' answer but spoke about the 'overwhelming support' he's receiving from the community.

Below is the full interview with Palmieri on Friday afternoon.
