The newly elected Mayor of Utica in his first year so far has taken a lot of beatings when it comes to policy changes and decisions he's had to make. Most notably a 14% city tax rate increase. Now, there are some calling him a "bigot" due to a policy that will prohibit a pride flag being flown during the month of June, or Pride Month.

He's represented the city for the last several years and believes he is the 'proper person for the position.'

Another candidate is throwing his hat into the ring for Mayor of Utica.

Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri and several members of the Utica Common Council were sworn-in today in a ceremony at City Hall on Thursday.

Republican Utica Mayoral candidate Ernie Sanita is accusing his primary opponent of lying to the public.
