Utica, NY (WIBX) - The man accused of robbing the Cash Corner Pawn Shop on Genesee Street at gunpoint was indicted on three felonies ranging from first degree robbery and second degree criminal possession of a weapon. The suspect, 39-year-old Robert E. Lecher, III, of Shepherd Place in Utica is accused of walking into the Pawn Shop on June 17, and holding up the store with a sawed-off shotgun. Police say he fired a shot a few feet away from the clerk and struck him over the head with the gun, knocking him to the ground.

Lecher fled the Pawn Shop with an undisclosed amount of money but was apprehended after a foot chase near Devereux Street. The clerk suffered a laceration to his head. Lecher is also facing a second degree felony robbery charge.
