Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente has appointed Colleen Fahy-Box as interim Commissioner of the Department of Social Services.

Fahy-Box fills the role left vacant by former Commissioner Lucille Soldato

Soldato retired from the position and ended her 40-plus years of county service on Tuesday.

Fahy-Box started working for Oneida County as a DSS caseworker in 1983.  She was appointed as Deputy Commissioner by Soldato in 2012.

“Colleen has served as Lucille’s right hand since being appointed as a Deputy DSS Commissioner five years ago, and has proved to be a valuable asset to Oneida County,” Picente said. “I am confident she will lead the department in an exemplary manner until the role is filled permanently early next year.”
