SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Police in Syracuse say they've charged a 19-year-old man in the fatal shooting of a 12-year-old boy last month.

Police officials say Friday that Johanen Pizarro has been charged with second-degree murder, attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the death of James Springer III.

Authorities say the boy was hit by gunfire meant for someone else while standing on a Syracuse street the night of Oct. 10. He died the next day at a hospital.

A day later police charge a 22-year-old man with the killing. He was released from jail a week later after prosecutors said a store's surveillance video showed he was elsewhere at the time of the shooting.

Pizarro is being held in jail. It couldn't be learned from authorities if he has a lawyer.
