MANORVILLE, N.Y. (AP) — A 17-year-old Long Island boy is dead after a car struck a tree, killing him and seriously injuring the teenage driver and another passenger.

Suffolk County police say Isaiah Perez, of Manorville, was riding with two other 17-year-olds on Saturday night when the car's driver, Edenilson Trejo, lost control of the car and veered into a tree in Manorville.

Both Trejo and Tyrese Ramseur, the other passenger, were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries.

Police say Perez was pronounced dead at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center.

Tiffany Ramseur, the mother of Tyrese, says that her son is not responsive and doesn't know about Perez's death. She says Perez and Tyrese had been friends for four years, and were both due to graduate next month from different high schools.
