Governor Andrew Cuomo made a stop in Rome to announce the city has been awarded $10 million in funding to breath life in downtown.

Rome is one of ten statewide 'winners' in another of the governor's competitive application programs.

That money will be used for several projects, Mayor Jackie Izzo said. They include tearing down the Liberty St/George St Parking garage to construct a new mid-market apartment complex, adding a skating rink and other improvements to City Hall,  along with refurbishments to the Capitol Theater, where Thursday's announcement was made. Izzo said she hoped those refurbishments could include a new marquee.

Mayor Izzo is scheduled to join the Keeler in the Morning show on Friday morning to further discuss the projects that will be supported with the state funding.
