Rome, NY (WIBX) - The Rome Hospital Foundation is hosting its annual Bowl-A-Thon this Sunday and Monday, May 15 - 16. Organizers say over 200 bowlers have already registered to join this year's Disco-Fever themed event at King Pin Lanes in Rome.

Teams of four will be kicking-off the Bowl-A-Thon at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. Players are encouraged to raise money for a chance to win door prizes and other incentives, including best costume awards. Former event chairperson, Karen Wells, Branch Manager, Berkshire Bank's West Rome Branch, said, "We have been bowling at this event since it started five years ago. This event is so much fun and it's for such a great cause." Berkshire Banks is one of the many sponsors of the event.

The details are as follows:

  • Teams of four are planning to bowl on May 15 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., on Monday, May 16 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
  • Each player is asked to raise a minimum of $40 or $160 per team. Also, those who raise the most money will have more chances to win door prizes. All bowlers are eligible to win a 50/50 raffle prize during each squad. And, prizes will be issued for the best costume, the most creative costume and the most creative team costumes.

Officials say the net proceeds will benefit the Rome Memorial Hospital Foundation, that in turn, supports the non-profit Rome Memorial Hospital.
