Crews from the New York Susquehanna and Western Railroad spent Monday morning removing a runaway train car that crashed into a stationary locomotive at Utica's Union Station on July 21st.

The antique locomotive was moved from the building this afternoon.  Now that the train cars have removed, the process of repairing the building will begin.

Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente says damage to the building is expected to exceed $1 million.

Harry Lenz is President of the Utica and Mohawk Valley Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society, which owns the 102-year old steam locomotive. Lenz says they hope to have the locomotive restored cosmetically and put back on display for the public to enjoy.

The train has been on display at Union Station for 15 years.
