The Sangertown Square Mall in New Hartford will be losing one of its anchor tenants. The Sears store at Sangertown, which opened in April of 1980, will be closing in early July. Company officials say the store will begin a liquidation sale on May 7th.

In a statement, Sears officials say store closures are part of a series of actions they're taking to reduce on-going expenses, adjust their asset base and accelerate the transformation of their business model.

The store and auto center have a combined 109 employees.

Employees who are eligible will receive severance and have the chance to apply for positions at area Sears or Kmart stores.

The local Kmart store will remain open.
