Boonville, NY (WIBX) - The Oneida County Sheriff's Office says a snowmobiler who had become stuck in waist-high standing water in a farmer's field just south of Potato Hill Road in Boonville was rescued Sunday afternoon.

Deputies say 48-year old Michael Edick of Boonville called 9-1-1 on his cell phone and
a "PING" was established to pinpoint his exact location, about 14 miles west of Route 12.

Ediick had problems walking because his feet had become numb due to exposure.

The Sheriff's Office is urging snowmobilers to always take a cell phone with them shouid they
become disabled or injured.

They also say standing water poses a hazard to snowmobilers this time of year due to melting
snow.
