(WIBX) - The news is likely to cause more controversy for the victims of September 11th.

The "New York Times" is reporting that the mortuary at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware disposed of body parts of some of the victims of 9-11 by burning them and dumping them in a landfill.

Officials are still investigating but previous problems prompted Defense Secretary Leon Panetta to order a review of practices at the base last fall.

The news media apparently received reports of the review before the Air Force did, and USAF Chief of Staff, General Norton Schwartz, and Secretary of the Air Force Michael Donley asked that they be allowed time to read the report before commenting.

As additional details emerge the Air Force has previously acknowledged what it calls "gross mismanagement" at the facility.
