Syracuse, NY, (WIBX) - An armed man was fatally shot by police and deputies following an incident at a restaurant. Officials from Syracuse Police Department and Onondaga County Deputies responded to the scene last night, after receiving reports of an intoxicated man flashing a gun outside the Market Diner. Law enforcement attempted to convince the man to put down his gun but were forced to fire shots when he refused.

Few details about the man have been released however, officials plan on holding a press conference at 1 p.m. to release more details surrounding the incident. According to the Syracuse Post Standard, the individual is described as a white man who was wearing a black shirt. Syracuse Police Chief Frank Fowler confirmed that the suspect was pronounced dead at 7:17 p.m. at a local hospital after being shot more than once.
