The AK5K is underway on the Marcy Campus of SUNYIT in memory of Alex Kogut, the SUNY student who was killed last year in her dorm room.

October is Domestic Violence awareness month and Governor Cuomo is encouraging all New Yorkers to participate in the state's annual "Shine the Light on Domestic Violence" campaign.

Organizer Jenifer Bowman is hoping that the Alexandra Kogut Memorial 5K helps keep the memory of the young woman for whom it is named alive.
