Comcast dropped out of the bidding war for Twenty-First Century Fox's entertainment business Thursday, saying that it will instead focus on its pursuit of the European pay-TV operator Sky.
This week Comcast decided to back out of a deal to merge with Time Warner, a deal that was under federal scrutiny because of the possibility that it would create a behemoth in the cable industry.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Comcast plans to sell some cable systems to competitor Charter Communications Inc. to help Comcast's acquisition of Time Warner Cable clear clear regulatory hurdles.
In a move that would make it the biggest provider of cable television in the country, Comcast is expected to announce today that it is purchasing Time Warner Cable.
