Winter weather has officially begun as the holiday rush gets underway in the Greater Utica area, and that means road conditions need to always be monitored. Utica Police are warning people to be especially careful as they are responding to dozens of accidents throughout the city.

Your morning commute may be a slippery one in Central New York.

Snow it begins. The first widespread accumulating snow of the season is coming to Central New York. And it'll be just in time for a sloppy and slippery mid-week commute.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning Sunday night and Monday for snow and mixed precipitation in Oneida, Madison and parts of Otsego Counties. A Winter Weather Advisory is posted for Herkimer County.

The National Weather Service says a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 7:00pm this evening, January 2, 2022.

While we didn't really get a white Christmas in 2021, it looks like we could get a touch of snow to round out the year.

The first snowstorm of the season may bring up to 2 inches of snow per hour, just in time for the morning commute in Northern Oneida County.
