Fire officials are still working to determine the cause of a fire that broke out at a former Central New York church that gained notoriety after a child was beaten to death there several years ago.

An author who examined the Word of Life Church in Chadwicks, NY following the murder of Lucas Leonard in 2015 is appearing at Barnes & Noble in New Hartford tonight.

The Word of Life building on Oneida Street in Chadwicks is up for sale. The building is the sight of the tragic beating death of 19-year-old Lucas Leonard. The death was the result of a church counseling session in which Lucas' brother, Christopher Leonard, was also beaten. Christopher survived.
