Residents of the Town of Manheim are calling on the Mayor of Dolgeville to reject a proposed hydrofracking project that would be the first of its kind in the state.

Members of the newly launched group 'Protect Manheim' are gathering at the Village of Dolgeville meeting at 5:30 tonight to ask Village Mayor and Manheim Zoning Board Chair Bruce Lyon to reject the compressed natural gas fracking project.

Among other health and safety concerns, the project will require trucks to travel on a stretch of road referred to as 'Dead Man's Curve,' due to the number of accidents there over the years.

Members of 'Protect Manheim' say the applicant of the project -Xpress Natural Gas- has a history of truck accidents at other facilities.

The meeting will take place at 5:30 Monday July 21, in front of the Village of Dolgeville offices at 41 North Main Street in Dolgeville.
