The Food Bank of Central New York will be able to provide nearly 1,700 meals to the less fortunate thanks to a unique partnership that sandwiched fitness with a good burger, and a slice of charitable giving on top.

Fifty-cents from every Boilermaker Burger sold this season was donated to the Food Bank of CNY. A check for just over $670 was presented to the organization on Monday, marking the end of the 'Boilermaker Season'.

The specialty burgers, featuring a half pound all beef patty, swiss cheese, peppered bacon, fried onion petals and topped with a tangy barbeque mayo sauce, are sold exclusively at Babe's Macaroni Grill and Carmella's Cafe for a total of five weeks in the summer around the Utica Boilermaker Road Race.

In addition to featuring a pair of area's best eateries, the partnership included the New York Beef Council, Townsquare Media Utica radio stations Big Frog 104, Lite 98.7, WIBX 950 and Oldiez 96.1 who promoted the campaign, and, of course the Boilermaker.

The Boilermaker Burgers are no longer available this season, but will return in the weeks leading up to Boilermaker 2015.
