Truck Rollover That Shut Down Westbound I-90 is Cleared

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — A tractor-trailer crash that blocked the westbound lanes of the Thruway near Albany for hours has been cleared in time for the morning commute.

State police say a truck with a load of soda was traveling west on Interstate 90 when it crashed and overturned around 6 p.m. Monday in the town of Guilderland, blocking all three westbound lanes between Exit 24 and Exit 25.

The crash caused traffic backups during the evening commute as westbound motorists were diverted off the highway at Exit 24.

The right lanes reopened around 9:30 p.m. but the center and left lanes remained closed until around 6 a.m. Tuesday when the truck was removed from the crash scene.

Troopers say the driver, who wasn't hurt, said he was trying to avoid a vehicle that had gotten to close to his truck.
