Two More Word Of Life Defendants Reject Plea Offers
Two more defendants in the Word of Life Church beating case have rejected plea offers from the Oneida County District Attorney's Office.
Sarah Ferguson and Daniel Irwin were in court on Tuesday, where they both turned down the offers and decided to take their chances at trial.
District Attorney Scott McNamara says Ferguson was offered the same deal as Tiffanie Irwin -- plead guilty to second-degree murder with a sentence of 18 years to life.
He says Daniel Irwin, who is not charged with murder, was offered 10 years in prison with five years of post release supervision.
McNamara says he's not surprised the three defendants have chosen not to accept the offers and expected the case to go to trial.
Four more defendants will be in court this week to decide on plea offers.
Nine members of the Word of Life Church are charged in the beatings of Lucas and Christopher Leonard.
