The Madison County Sheriff's Office has arrested two separate people on two separate welfare fraud investigations.

According to authorities, the first case occurred from March 2016 to March 2018. It is alleged that on five different occasions 36-year-old Rebecca Marris provided false information and documents to the Madison County Department of Social Services.

The false information allowed for her actual income to be underestimated and due to the alleged fraudulent act, Marris received over $5,000 in benefits she was not entitled to. Marris is facing several charges including Welfare Fraud, Grand Larceny, False Instrument for Filing and Perjury. Some of those counts are multiple.

The second investigation led to the arrest of 34-year-old Asia Ossevoort of Lafayette, NY. She allegedly applied for public assistance and fraudulently reported she was unemployed. As a result she's facing charges of Welfare Fraud and Grand Larceny.
