The last time Utica hosted an AHL playoff game was Thursday, April 22, 1993.  That little known statistic will change this Wednesday, when the Utica Comets host Chicago in game 3 of the first round of the Calder Cup playoffs.

There are some differences this time around.

23 years ago, the Utica Devils were underdogs; today, the Utica Comets are the #1 seed and favored to win the series.

23 years ago, the Aud was a little more than half-full for their playoff game; today, there are no tickets available on Ticketmaster for Wednesday's game and just a few seats available for Friday night's home game.  Both games are expected to be sell-outs.

The one thing that is most different for this year's AHL playoff appearance is the buzz that's been created across the region.  There is an excitement about this team that we haven't seen in this area in several years.  A Utica Comets playoff ticket right now is a hot ticket and here's everything you need to know about attending this week's games.

When, What and Where

Chicago and Utica are tied 1 game a piece in this best of 5 series.

Game time Wednesday and Friday is at 7 p.m. at the Aud

White Out the Aud

The Comets are asking fans to wear white to the game.

For every home playoff game, all fans that enter the building dressed in WHITE will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win an authentic, game-worn WHITE inaugural season jersey. Winners of the WHITE game-worn jerseys will be announced throughout the game. There will be multiple jerseys given away each game.

In addition, WHITE #BuiltForThis pom-poms will be distributed to all fans in attendance for Game 3 of the Conference Quarterfinals.

Fans can also win prizes through social media. All fans who change their Facebook and Twitter main profile images to the same one the Comets social media accounts have, will be eligible to win various prizes throughout the Comets 2015 Calder Cup Playoffs run.

Season Ticket Holders

If you have opted to keep your season tickets, you might want to stop by the Aud to pick up your tickets for Wednesday and Friday.  Tickets will be available at game time at Will Call; however, there might be a long line Wednesday before the game.

Need Tickets?

WIBX is giving away tickets compliments of Daylight Donuts for both games, Wednesday and Friday.  The tickets will be given away during the Keeler in the Morning show from 6-9 am all week.

You can still purchase tickets at Ticketmaster or by calling the box office at 315-738-0164.   (There are no seats currently available for Wednesday and 3 open single seats for Friday's game)

Where Can I Watch the Game?

You could purchase the games through the AHL broadcast, listen live through the Comets website or on 94.9 FM; or find a place that is streaming the game live like Tony's Audelicious, which is located next to the Aud.  (Let us know if your establishment is carrying the game live)

What Happens if the Series Goes to Game 5

The Comets can win the series with wins on Wednesday and Friday.  However, if they lose one of these games, the series will go to game 5, which would most likely be played on Saturday or possibly Sunday.  Tickets will immediately go on sale if the series goes to a game 5.  It will be a quick turnaround to sell tickets, especially if the Comets were to win on Wednesday and lose on Friday.  Stay tuned for details.  This process is subject to change.

What Happens if the Comets Win this Series?

If the Comets win this series, they are likely to play nearby Toronto in the next round, which will be a best of 7 series.  The Comets have home ice advantage and will start every future series with the first two games at home.  Most likely, if the Comets play a regional team, games 1 and 2 will be held at the Aud; games 3 and 4 would be held on the road; game 5 would be at the Aud; game 6 on the road and game 7 back at the Aud.  If the opponent is from outside the region, games 1, 2, 6 and 7 would be at the Aud and games 3, 4 and 5 would be on the road.  We won't know exactly what will happen until we know the opponent.

Go Comets!
